In June of 2012, Bob and Laurie closed on a lovely pool home in the Sandpiper area of Port St. Lucie. The journey began only a few weeks prior when we toured a few pool homes in the area. Bob and Laurie were referred to me by Al, a customer I had worked with a few years back who also relocated to Florida from Wisconsin.
Bob and Laurie may eventually relocate to Port St. Lucie but for now their new residence will be a great vacation home. It’s even better that their long-time friend Al will be able to show them around as they get acquainted with Port St. Lucie. They’re both active and enjoy the outdoors – biking and kayaking – so they look forward to exploring the scenic waterways in the area.
Their offer was made on the Sandpiper house without even seeing it in person! Bob and Laurie went back home and Al and I toured the house when it went back on the market a week or so after they were home. Al took a lot of photos and emailed them up to Wisconsin. Bob and Laurie came during the inspection period and liked the house even more in person. Phew! Love it when that happens!
I’m sure they will have many happy memories in their new home. But first they will be putting in new floors and doing a lot of painting!

In March of 2012, dear David from Canada decided to make East Lake Village his vacation destination and quickly found a house that worked perfectly for his needs. The Jasper model is my personal favorite and within a few minutes of walking through this never-lived in property David knew it was for him.
Because the house was practically new it was pretty basic – white walls and not much personality. Through the help of his friends’ interior design skills David transformed the house in to paradise with beautiful decorations, furnishings, and accent colors. I was delighted to come over and see the transformation in such a fast time!
On the dining room table David keeps a folder of local brochures on things to do in the area and I noticed that his new vacation home is called Casa Relaxa! So suiting! We chatted about local restaurants that he and his friend had visited in the area while they worked on final touches such as finding a BBQ grill, hanging a fan, and installing accordion shutters.
Cheers to David and Casa Relaxa in East Lake Village! I’m sure he’ll have many happy memories in sunny South Florida.

I was surprised by how busy Kings Isle, in Port St. Lucie, was during the last quarter of 2011 and my customers, Mr. & Mrs. Braendle, got in on the action. The Braendles owned a house in Hobe Sound that they listed for sale in order to purchase something in St. Lucie West – specifically in the active adult community, Kings Isle. Planning to continue to be seasonal residents, my customers liked the location of this community in its close proximity to I-95 and the easy access to shops and restaurants.
We found their dream home in Kings Isle and negotiated the offer price. The process was a bit of a roller coaster for the Braendles as they juggled the sale of their Hobe Sound property during the holidays of 2011 and worked to close on the Kings Isle home.
The property in Kings Isle was recently painted, had new floors, and new stainless steel appliances. Unfortunately the inspection revealed that the house needed a new roof so we negotiated with the seller to allow for a credit on the purchase price.
But at the end of the day it was a success. We closed earlier than expected and Mr. & Mrs. Braendle were excited to move from one end of the Treasure Coast to the other. I think what kept Mrs. Braendle going was knowing that she had a bunch of beautiful new furniture picked out for the new home. Now I’ve got to get over there to see how they’ve settled in and take a gander at their newly furnished home.
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Braendle! Not only did you get the house you wanted but you were also my first sale of 2012!

Dave and Sandy had their sights set on Port St. Lucie as their new home but first had to sell their home in Texas. As a Realtor® it’s always a little stressful to coordinate a sale and purchase at the same time but we successfully pulled it off … of course there were quite a few bumps along the road.
On these buyer’s wish list was a POOL! If you’re going to relocate to sunny south Florida, you’ve got to have a pool, right? Also on the list of would-like-to-haves was a palm tree for Dave. Dave and Sandy needed something that was move-in ready with no major repairs because once they closed on their house in Texas they only had about 5 days until needing to move-in to their Florida home.
They came down in the beginning of April, we toured homes for one weekend, and found them a renovated home in a lovely neighborhood in Port St. Lucie.
Palm Tree: Check!
It didn’t take too many homes to tour until they found the one they had to have. The house they made the offer on was built in 1981 and is CBS. It wasn’t a foreclosure or short sale so we didn’t have to negotiate too much on price and they paid what the seller was asking – $89,900. A three bedroom pool home in South Florida under $90,000 – nice! Plus this house was renovated – newer roof, new carpets, and fresh paint. The buyers had to get a washer, dryer, and refrigerator and were all set!
A big congratulations to Dave and Sandy for making their move. It was a joy to help them with the process and it’s always a happy day to close on a home in Port St. Lucie.

Denise and I had been communicating via email since February until she decided to come down to look at houses in April. This was her first trip to Port St. Lucie and it made it even more delightful that her cousin stayed in Port St. Lucie and could show her around town when we were not touring houses.
It was only two days of touring and we visited mostly subdivisions in the St. Lucie West area. Denise quickly found the house that she liked in Lake Charles which ironically (maybe) is where her cousin vacations! Since it would just be Denise relocating to the area by herself she didn’t need a house that was very big.
We found her an adorable little two bedroom house on the west side of the Lake Charles community. The closing was quite easy as it was not a short sale or foreclosure. We negotiated with the seller and got $5,000 off of the asking price and the seller fixed up a few things that the home owner’s association needed taken care of.
The closing took place in 30 days and Denise came down and stayed at her cousin’s house until we closed in person at the title company. Her furniture and belongings were moved down a week or so later so she had time to go in and paint and make her new house a home!
Congratulations to Denise and welcome to Port St. Lucie!

I met Ben and Diane through the Master Gardeners group here in St. Lucie. Their house was currently up for sale and they were looking to move out of a home owner’s association so that Diane could have more free reign with her gardening.
Ben and Diane were very objective in what they needed – a good view, a fairly new house, and they weren’t looking for a fixer-upper. After a few initial attempts, we eventually landed them a lovely home in the Torino area.
All of their needs were met – a good water/marsh view, the house was barely lived in, and all they needed to buy was a washer and dryer. We negotiated with the sellers to throw in a matching refrigerator and microwave since the house didn’t have one. Diane, the gardener that she is, told the seller they were more than welcome to remove the palm trees because Diane would like to start the yard from scratch and the seller, who was an investor, could use them as curb appeal on some of their other properties.
The Torino area is in the north-western portion of Port St. Lucie. Even though most of the lots are the same size, residents claim that their land feels bigger because there are many natural buffer zones such as large canals and other vacant lots. Torino Parkway is essentially a circle that loops through all the neighborhoods. There are a few gated and home owner’s association communities that are within the area.
The market has always been bustling in Torino as a lot of the homes are newer and larger than other areas in Port St. Lucie. For those who don’t want the added fees of a home owners association, the Torino area may be a good choice. Take a drive through some of the neighborhoods and see what the area has to offer!
